1956 D/S OMM # 1
Fivaz Stanton Numbers:
New FS-01-1956D-511
Breen: not listed
Coneca: OMM-001 delisted
Wexler: WDMM-001
The 1956 D & S dual mintmark variety
is unique in the sense that the cent
contains both a D and S mintmark. The
S mintmark, however can be very
difficult to see. The S is located
between the 1 and 9 of the date. The
bottom half of the S is often clearer
than the top half. There is some doubt
as to whether this is truly an S
mintmark. Coneca has recently delisted
this variety.
WDMM-001 stands for Wexler Dual
MintMark #1. Do not confuse this coin
with WOMM-001.
An easy way to identify this variety is a
huge die break that runs from the left
wheat stalk down between the U and N
of UNITED.
This coin is the #3 most wanted in The
Complete Price Guide and Cross
Reference to Lincoln Cent Mint Mark
Varieties by Brian Allen and John
Wexler.
